This huge market is spread over an area of 7 hectares (17 acres) and always hustling and bustling with local crowd as well as tourists.

History of Queen Victoria Market

The market is named after the British Empire’s ruler,  the Queen Victoria. This market has been a favourite among the people and is the only surviving market of the 19th century in the Melbourne central business district. The other two 19th century markets were closed in 1960s, but the Queen Victoria Market is still running.

The Queen Vic also host the Winter Night Market, every Wednesday in the months of June to August. There are many other things to buy from the market ranging from clothing and accessories, flower and garden supplies, health and beauty products, fruits and vegetables, seafood, meat and poultry, souvenirs and artifacts, tech toys, liquor and the list is endless.

Except for Mondays and Wednesdays, the market is always open. .
