Why are Some People So Obsessed with Woke Culture?

Some People Obsessed with Woke Culture?

Woke culture has become the topic of many social gatherings and media stories over the past year, but what exactly is it? Woke culture refers to when someone becomes so socially aware of issues like racism, sexism, and homophobia that they become overly concerned with the problems that face our society today. This new culture has sparked debates about whether or not it’s harmful to people who are not involved in these issues. Or if it’s simply another way for people to feel better about themselves by being politically correct whenever possible.

What Is Woke Culture?

Woke culture is the idea that you have to stay aware of everything happening in the world, even if it’s not directly related to you. It means staying informed about your surroundings and constantly educating yourself about different people and cultures. It also means recognizing systemic racism, classism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia and other forms of oppression to actively participate in the fight for social justice.

Woke Culture Breeds an “us” Versus “them” Mentality.

Woke culture often breeds us versus them mentality that divides people into two groups- those who understand and those who don’t. The “us” is made up of enlightened, woke people who know what’s going on in the world and have the plan to fix it. The “them” is everyone else- those who don’t understand or, worse, disagree with what we’re trying to do. It’s easy to get caught up in this black-and-white way of thinking about things because there are only two categories: you either agree with us or you don’t. And that is, of course, wrong.

If someone disagrees with your viewpoint, it often feels like something has been taken away from you. Their opinion doesn’t matter because they’ve chosen not to see the truth. You can end up feeling alienated from society as a whole if you feel like every single person thinks differently than you do.

What Causes Woke Culture to be Toxic

In short, the issue with woke culture is that it can take on an elitist tone and make people feel as if they need to be part of the movement in order to be good people. For example, some may feel like they’re not good feminists unless they condemn Donald Trump’s presidency and refuse to eat meat or wear leather products.
While there is nothing wrong with these choices, the problem arises when individuals who do not share these beliefs are attacked for their personal decisions. We should all strive to have open minds and give others room to have their own beliefs without passing judgment. It’s called Freedom of speech. And let’s add “Freedom of thought” as well. The best way we can support those who do go vegan or don’t believe in Trump’s policies would be to ask them why they’ve made those choices before attacking them for it.

How Companies can Incorporate Woke Culture

Woke culture is the new norm, and as a result, companies are starting to incorporate it into their businesses. For example, Nike recently released a campaign featuring Colin Kaepernick that has many people talking. What’s interesting about this campaign is that Nike created it just before releasing its newest shoe line. It features the slogan, “Believe in something even if it means sacrificing everything.” That suggests that Nike believes in Colin Kaepernick even though he has sacrificed so much for what he believes.

The Benefits of Being Woke

Woke culture is the way that many people think of themselves nowadays. It’s an idea that’s been around for a while but has gotten more traction recently as more and more people have begun to identify with it. Or at least younger generations. Those who are older than Gen Z probably couldn’t care less about woke culture.
