Early Start

  • Her parents incorporated her into their ministry when Katy was nine years old.
  • She sang in church from ages nine to 17.
  • Upon receiving her first guitar for her 13th birthday, Perry performed her own songs in public.
  • She began rollerskating, skateboarding, and surfing as a teenager, trying to be a bit like a typical Californian girl.
  • When she was an adolescent, her brother David described her as a tomgirl, which Perry discusses in “One Of The Boys”.
  • Jitterbug, swing, and Lindy Hop are some of the dances she learned.

  • 2008: Her first single with Capitol, “I Kissed a Girl” went out as the lead single from One of the Boys.
  • 2010 : Perry released “California Gurls” featuring Snoop Dogg, where the song was the lead single from her third studio album, Teenage Dream, and made it to number one spot on the Billboard Hot 100.
  • 2011: “E.T.” featuring Kanye West was released as the fourth single from Teenage Dream.
  • 2012: Perry began recording for her fourth album, Prism.
  • 2013: “Roar” was launched as the lead single from Prism topped Billboard Hot 100 and promoted at the MTV Video Music Awards. “Unconditionally” followed as the second single from Prism and ranked at number 14 in the United States.
  • 2014: “Dark Horse” with Juicy J was released as the album’s third single which became her ninth U.S. number-one single. The chart-topper songs “Birthday” and “This Is How We Do” came out as the album’s fourth and fifth singles, and made it to the top 25 on the Hot 100.
  • 2017: The album, titled Witness, was released.
  • 2019: Perry showed in the music video of Taylor Swift‘s “You Need to Calm Down“.
  • 2020: The release of her single “Never Worn White” happened featuring “Daisies“, the lead single. Perry endorsed the album with four compilation EPs: CampKaty, Empowered,Scorpio SZN, and Cosmic Energy.
  • 2021: She launched the single, “Electric“, a collaboration with Pokémon for their 25th anniversary.

  • 2022: Through her partnership with Morgan McLachlan, she established De Soi, an aperitif company that produces and sells nonalcoholic apéritifs. Katy Perry was awarded the Key to Las Vegas on the same day it was declared Katy Perry Day.
