Ways to Incorporate Cardio Into Your Routine

Fit Cardio Exercise Into Your Daily Activities

Exercise is vital for a happy and healthy life. However, the type of exercise also plays a big role in how healthy you actually are. One type that you most certainly cannot neglect is cardio. In order to improve your blood flow and boost your heart rate, you should try to incorporate at least an hour and a half of moderate to vigorous cardio exercises into your weekly schedule. There are various ways to do this, from taking classes to relying on some everyday chores, so take a look below to learn more.

Clean Your Home Regularly

In case you do not have time for exercising, you’ll be glad to know that some common housework chores can burn a lot of calories. You have to get these done anyway, so why not make the most of it? Plus, if you go outside and do some gardening and rake the leaves, you’ll get an even better workout as well as some vitamin D and fresh air.

Walk Instead of Driving

Sometimes your chores require you to run around town – and that is exactly what you should do. Well, okay, maybe not run. But walk to these places instead of just driving there. It might take more time but it will give you plenty of benefits. Also, when shopping, do a few more laps around the store and try carrying your groceries instead of pushing the cart, as you can burn almost 50 calories in just five minutes.

Change Your Commute

You can also start walking or cycling to work instead of driving there. If you happen to live far from the office and walking is impossible, then try to park a bit further and still get some steps in. On the other hand, if you use the bus, you can get off a few stops earlier and walk the rest of the way. Cycling is also a great option as you don’t need gas, you can avoid traffic and you’ll be healthier.

Use The Stairs

If you don’t live or work on the ground floor, you should start using the stairs instead of the lift. Of course, you don’t have to walk to the 20th floor but at least a few floors will give you a great workout. Doing this a couple of times a day is surely going to burn a lot of calories as well as boost your heart rate. Plus, after a while, you will not lose your breath so quickly.

Start Cycling

Even if your work is too far for you to cycle there, you can still incorporate cycling into your workout routine. If you prefer exercising at home, you should look into quality exercise bikes online and you are sure to find one that fits your needs. On the other hand, if you’d rather be outside, you can go biking in your free time. If you have kids, you can teach them how to ride a bike and you can go on adventures together.

Go Swimming

Another way to sneak in some cardio while spending time with your family is by going swimming. If your kids know how to swim – great! If not, teaching them will also be a great workout. See where you can fit it into your schedule and go as often you can. You can think about installing a pool in your backyard if you have the space and funds but if not, find a public one nearby and make the most of it.

Dance Your Heart Out

Dancing is often neglected as a great way of exercise. It should be super easy to find some sort of dance class in your area, so look for something that seems exciting. You can join a Zumba workout class or try to learn a specific form of dance such as salsa or tap dancing. If all else fails, you can always go out with your friends to a club and dance until your feet hurt.

Add More Cardio To Your Workout

Finally, if you do have enough time for workouts but are not sure which exercises are best for cardio, we also have a few suggestions. Some easy exercises which require no equipment are burpees and jumping jacks. When it comes to burpees, you can strive for around a hundred during your workout; as for jumping jacks, set aside 30 seconds in between other exercises and do as many as you can in that time period. Kettlebell swings, rowing and jumping rope are all beneficial in terms of cardio as well.

As you can see, regardless of whether you can devote some time to exercising or not, there are plenty of ways to sneak in some cardio into your daily routine. From using the stairs and walking more to cycling to work and dancing whenever you have the chance, find what works for you.
