Biography

Marc Griffin, also known as Marc E. Bassy, is a San Francisco Bay Area-based singer and songwriter. He was a member of the potential Los Angeles-based pop band 2 am Club as a vocalist. Only the Poets, his 2014 mixtape, East Hollywood, and the 2016 EP Groovy People, which includes the single “You & Me” featuring G-Eazy, are his solo releases. It was only a potential matter of time until Bassy went independent, founding his label, New Gold Medal Records, to release his second and third full-length albums, PMD and Little Men, on their schedules. Before releasing his music, he worked as a songwriter for singers including CeeLo Green, Sean Kingston, Wiz Khalifa, and Ty Dolla Sign.

Career

Griffin began his musical career as the lead singer of the 2 am Club, which released an album and a mixtape. However, the band’s record label, Sony/ATV, dismissed them, and they went on an extended sabbatical on 29 Jun 2015. His claim to fame began in Chicago, Illinois, when he established the record for the longest air guitar solo in front of 30,000 people at a silent disco “playing.” He was signed to Universal Republic Records after the release of Only the Poets and East Hollywood, which received significant critical acclaim.

Griffin announced a co-headlining tour with American singer and songwriter Bebe Rexha in October 2017 called the Bebe & Bassy Tour in support of Bassy’s first album. Gossip Columns was released on 13 Oct, and also Rexha’s EP All Your Fault: Pt. 2. The trip, however, was cut short owing to Rexha’s voice rest due to an illness. Griffin went on a US tour with fellow Bay Area musician Rexx Life Raj in March 2018 to promote his first album.
