Scary Things Google Knows About You
1. Google Keeps Your Entire Location History
At first, it sounds harmless. Big deal, right? But think about it – do you really want someone to know every place you went and will go to? It’s like a virtual stalker that follows you around.
2. It Knows All Of Your Emails
Everything you’ve ever sent or received – Google knows it. If you use Gmail, that is. So you better be careful with what you write.
3. Every Website You Visited
We can all admit that we visited a website or two that we’re not proud of. You thought you could keep it a secret? Maybe from your family, friends and pretty much anyone on Earth, but not from Google.
4. It Doesn’t Just Know Which Websites You Visited
It also knows everything you did on them. Scared yet? No? Check out the next one then.
5. Your Personality
Yes, it knows you better than your best friend. It might even know you better than you know yourself. And it’s not even a secret. Just click on Google Ad Settings and you’ll see a huge list of everything you like – music, food, clothes, your interests, your approximate age and your gender. It’s a detailed profile of you Google has created based on your activity. It mostly uses that information for ad targeting, but what if someday someone decides to use it for something else?
6. It Knows Your Phone Number
You know that awkward feeling you get when you like someone and you’re trying to get their number? Well, Google doesn’t have to go through all that pain. And who knows, maybe someday Google might send you an SMS, asking you out on a date. And, honestly, what could go wrong? It already knows your every little secret. Might as well go with it.
7. Your Voice
Not only does it know the colour of your voice, but also what you said. Every time you use Google Assistant and say “OK Google”, you’re actually saying “OK Google, collect everything I said and store it somewhere in California.”
8. It’s Not Just You – It’s The Whole World
Both Google Earth and Google Maps are pretty convenient. But what does that mean? It means Google knows every little street in the world. And it’s constantly looking.
We’ll leave you with an actual statement from Google CEO, Eric Schmidt: “We know where you are. We know where you’ve been. We can more or less know what you’re thinking about.”
