If you haven’t visited this country till now, you really don’t know what you are missing on. Australia is a place that everyone should visit once in a lifetime. The nature lovers will get to see the most amazing natural views. The wildlife lovers will get to see the diverse fauna and flora native to Australia. The youngsters who believe in having fun will love the urban side of this place and there is a lot for the kids too. Australia will never disappoint you.

Here, in this article, I take you closer to one such place that will make you wonder why God has placed all the beauty on the Earth in Australia?  Well, we are lucky enough that Australia is truly blessed and you make yourself lucky by visiting the Indian Ocean Drive in Australia. The drive carries many wonders.

This coastal road is located in the Western Australia’s Australian state. The road stretches between Lancelin to Brand Highway, south to Dongara.

History

The road was opened on 26th of September,2010. In the month of December, 2010, the Geographic Name Committee of the state requested to change the name of the Wanneroo Road’s northern section to The Indian Ocean Drive.

Attributes

The road looks heavenly. The white sand spread everywhere makes the place look divine. The course of the road run from  Perth – Geraldton – Carnarvon – Exmouth – Coral Bay – Shark Bay – Kalbarri.

Things To Do

On your way, there are many things you can do. The road has a lot to offer.

From Perth To Geraldton, it is a 5 hour drive. On your way you will witness bright wildflowers. On your way you can visit Badgingarra National Park. Going further north, you will reach the twin coastal towns of Dongara – Denison where you can taste wine, fish, enjoy sea food and swim. There are many things to see in the town. The road will then take you to Geraldton on the Champion Bay.

From Geraldton, the Indian Ocean Drive will take you to Carnarvon. On this way too, there are many things that you can try, like, visiting Monkey Mia, visit Carnarvon Growers Market, fish from One Mile Jetty, swim in the  waterholes of Rocky Pool or Chinaman’s Pool or snorkel through the coral-filled lagoon and enjoy camping.

The drive from Carnarvon to Exmouth is loaded with picturesque views of Cape Range National Park’s red cliffs and Ningaloo Marine Park’s turquoise water. There are many things to do at the Ningaloo Marine Park and Ningaloo Reef.

From Exmouth, the road will take to Coral Bay. Hiking at the Charles Knife canyon and finding caves and tunnels, walking to the Yardie Creek, cruise down the gorge, bird watching at Mangrove Bay and Mandu Mandu Gorge and snorkelling in Ningaloo Marine Park southern end are the activities you can do in between.

Hamelin Pool and Shell Beach, are the amazing places where you can visit, on your way to Shark Bay. The marine park at the south of Denham is a place to visit. Visit Steep Point on your way to Kalbarri. On reaching Kalbarri, do visit the Kalbarri National park.
