Freedom 2020 Self Imposed Prison
What Does it Mean to be Free in 2020? 2020 has not gotten off to a great start for Australia, fire, floods and plague, some might say we will never catch a break. One thing that we have all let slip in 2020 is our freedom, we have blindly confirmed from one command to the next, do as we are told, meanwhile politicians and the rich continue to do whatever they like.
However, this is not a rant about everyday folk vs the elite, this article is an exploration of what it means to be free.
Over the years we have gradually and systematically happily eroded our freedom, ID checks, smart passports, and smartphones, increased surveillance in the name of security. I always hear the brainwashed mouthpieces well if you have nothing to hide then nothing to fear, however, it’s not about that.
In a healthy society, people respect each other, help each other out and call out obvious faults when we see them. However, what we have become are disconnected, fearful of saying the wrong thing and unsure of society. I am convinced this has to be somewhat by design and partly an evolutionary redundancy.
1. You are the Prisoner and the Jailer
My favourite stories involve the weak overcoming the strong oppressor. Throughout history, the elite groups have sort to divide and keep distracted the peasants while they lead lives 99.9 per cent of people can only dream about. Look at the things you do, what angers you and what you’re willing to turn a blind eye to. Take this quiz below and see what subjects provoke anger.
Choose Yes or No if any of these subjects anger you.
- Immigration (Uncontrolled)
- Feminism
- Politics
- Identity Politics
We ask again, what does it mean to be free in 2020? If you answer yes to any of these, ask yourself have they directly affected you and if so how? The power of self and choices you make must benefit you and your community. The point is, you can only influence what you can control. So why, if something is out of your control, worry or care about it. For example, if you want to change something and care passionately for it, then orientate your life around solving problems in a specific area. Contribute to society and ask the key questions from a solution-focused perspective.

2. The Migration Question
Let’s take one example of uncontrolled immigration. We can all agree that some migration is good, however limitless unskilled migration will put pressure on established communities. This ensures that already stretched resources are further depleted. You can see why this may provoke negative emotions in some people. Especially when they are relying on a resource that is becoming scarcer. Subsequent governments seem to do nothing about it. So you feel anger. However, at the same time, 0.01% of the world’s population is controlling 50% of the world’s wealth. This flies under the radar. If that wealth was shared with the world’s poorest there would not be a need for migration.
However it’s a classic example of divide and conquers, keeping the peasants focused on things they cannot control. This happens while the few at the very top continue to live lives belong 99.999% of people’s wildest dreams.
3. However, You Can Win The Game
The only way to win this game and become free is not to play. Look at areas you can control or influence and invest yourself fully into that area. Involving yourself locally, helping the less fortunate and making your neighbourhood safer. Also, get to know your community and know that injustice for one is injustice for all. This way we can effect change on a scale never before seen by humanity.
Conclusion
What does it mean to be free in 2020? Once we realise what we need, over what we want then we are as a people truly free. This means, do not be a slave to the media, news and industry. Strive to reach freedom, be yourself and take only what you need. Freedom comes from the heart, not the wallet.

Fun Fact
What do you mean by political freedom?
An important aspect of political freedom is the ability of its citizens to actively participate in the political process. This involves both the freedom of the majority to influence and guide policy (rather than just allowing insiders to do so) and the freedom of political minorities to express themselves.
