An intense first trailer for HBO’s “The Last of Us” video game adaptation
The first complete teaser for HBO’s upcoming The Last of Us TV adaptation was released by Sony to commemorate The Last of Us Day in 2022. The HBO series seems to have faithfully recreated the tone and post-apocalyptic environment of the Naughty Dog universe, with several notable moments and footage from the game. You can see it for yourself below.
Joel, an experienced survivor, serves as the focal point of “The Last of Us” television series and the PlayStation video game. He passes through a country severely damaged by the deadly cordyceps fungus. Pedro Pascal, who starred in “The Mandalorian,” plays Joel. He goes on the voyage with a little girl named Ellie, who is vital to finding a treatment for the zombie-like infection that has destroyed civilization. Ellie is portrayed by Bella Ramsey, who has previously starred in “Game of Thrones.”
The trailer was unveiled on September 26, also known as “Outbreak Day” in the “The Last of Us” community. The first video game’s September 26 release caused the cordyceps fungus to spread nationwide. Fans will be able to identify key scenes from the video game “The Last of Us,” such as Joel and Ellie escaping a quarantine zone, two collapsing skyscrapers they must cross, Ellie riding a merry-go-round with her childhood friend Riley, and Joel running with his daughter Sarah at the beginning of the pandemic, in the trailer set to Hank Williams’ “Alone and Forsaken.”
Victims of the cordyceps fungus are transformed into shambling “clickers.” Their faces are covered with spores that resemble mushrooms, and they have an insatiable taste for human flesh. The spine-tingling echolocation that clickers use to chase their prey because they cannot sight is seen in HBO’s brief promo from this morning.
Along with Pascal and Ramsey, the cast includes Merle Dandridge as Marlene, the leader of the Fireflies rebel group, Murray Bartlett as Frank, Nick Offerman as Bill, Jeffrey Pierce as Perry, Anna Torv as Tess, Gabriel Luna as Tommy, and Merle Dandridge as Marlene. The voices of Joel and Ellie from the video games Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson will also make an unspecified cameo in the show.
Neil Druckmann is a co-founder and executive producer of the video game company Naughty Dog together with Craig Mazin, the Emmy Award-winning author of “Chernobyl.” The executive producers are Carter Swan, Rose Lam, Asad Qizilbash, Evan Wells, and Carolyn Strauss. Director names include Kantemir Balagov, Jamila “bani,” Ali Abbasi, Peter Hoar, Jeremy Webb, and Liza Johnson. Production companies for the show include Word Games, The Mighty Mint, Naughty Dog, PlayStation Productions, and Sony Pictures Television.
