Skin Conditions – What They are and How to Identify Them

Skin Conditions: What They Are And How To Identify Them

Understanding your skin type is the first step to keeping it healthy. But that’s not all: you also need to know what her condition is at the moment. Let us help you with this task!

While skin type undergoes few changes throughout life and is primarily determined by genetic and hereditary factors, skin condition is a temporary state, influenced by various external factors (such as climate, temperature, pollution) and internal (such as food, stage of life, use of medication, stress).

Therefore, to take care of the skin, it is important to know the type and what state it is in.

Check out some of the main skin conditions:

Young skin

Young skin is one that is in full force. It is smooth, homogeneous and has no stains. Well lubricated, elasticity, luminous, and still shows no signs of expression, wrinkles, or sagging. Youthful skin is firm, plump, and wrinkle-free. It bounces back and heals with minimal scarring. As it ages, a person’s skin loses elastin, a protein that allows skin to stretch and bounce back without forming wrinkles. As this happens, fine lines and wrinkles appear.

Mature skin

How can we identify it? The main characteristics of mature skin that disappear with age are flexibility and elasticity. Part of the skin’s consistency gradually decreases, it becomes more fragile, finer, more uneven and the dreaded wrinkles appear, which are accompanied by pronounced expression lines. Mature skin is one that has undergone several hormonal changes and, over the years, has lost its natural defences. Therefore, it has little vigor and luminosity, less elasticity and presents expression lines, wrinkles and sagging.

Sensitive skin

Redness, burning sensation, and tightness are some of the main characteristics of sensitive skin.

This sensitivity happens because the natural protective barrier is compromised, leaving the skin thinner, fragile and irritable.

It is a condition that can affect any skin type, at any stage of life.

Dark skin

Dark skin is a common problem in the world today. It can be seen in the forms of acne, wrinkles and other skin problems. These are all signs that we are losing our natural beauty. To maintain our natural beauty, we need to take care of ourselves and ensure that we keep our skin healthy.

To do this, there are many ways to keep your skin healthy and beautiful. These include using sun protection products such as sunscreen, keeping your nails clean and trimming them regularly to prevent breakage or splitting.

Acneic skin

The main culprit for acne is the overproduction of fat by the sebaceous glands.

This condition is quite common at puberty, when the body begins to produce the hormones estrogen, in women, and androgen, in men, which leads to super oily skin.

Inflammation of the skin is accentuated, and small yellowish pustules appear, forming crusts that can leave scars and spots.

Skin with spots

The spots that appear on the skin are mainly caused by the action of the sun. UVA and UVB rays penetrate deeply, activating the production of melanin, a natural pigment that causes the skin to darken.

Over the years, the effects of solar radiation accumulate, favoring the concentration of melanin in certain regions, which causes the formation of darker spots.

This is also a condition that can occur on any skin type. It is quite common during and after pregnancy due to the intense hormonal change that forms chloasma gravidarum, also known as melasma – a hyperpigmentation of the skin, resulting from increased melanin deposition.
