Short Review of Love Yourself Like Your Life Depends On It by Kamal Ravikant

Love Yourself Like Your Life Depends On It: Book Review

What did I like the most? The book is helpful for those readers who have been under a severe bout of depression. Once they read the book would undoubtedly come out of the darkness and melancholy.

Newton’s third law states that for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. Similarly, when one loved themself, love rebounds back, and life loves the person. A famous phrase in English ‘put it in black and white’ in common parlance. The paper on which anything is written with ink, whether the colour is black, blue, red, or green, remains white. To elaborate, one can say that the Soul of human beings extends universal consciousness and remains pure. The quality of being white also denotes purity. When controlled by lust, greed, passion, dishonesty, violence, we presume maybe it is under the influence of the mind.

There would not be a single person on this earth who would have committed anything wrong. The negativity part in human life or nature haunts a human being all his life. As a result, and under the influence of negativity, the person goes into depression, anxiety and sometimes develops suicidal tendencies. Therefore, the author emphasises loving oneself and makes it a mantra to repeat this” I love myself every day.” The author and his assertion are a fantastic approach towards maintaining a balance between universal consciousness and this mortal world.

The personal experience of the author is illustrative enough to understand why one needs to chant the mantra. The human who lives himself would see this live in extension with other beings of the world too. The author suggests a beautiful exercise to develop and practice this trait to love oneself. The mental loop is simply giving autosuggestion to oneself. To elaborate, if water is poured into an empty plastic pipe, it will undoubtedly reach the other end of the tube. Similarly, when used as input, the quality of love would get the other end means thought of brain pushed mind and eventually reach the foot of Soul or universal consciousness. Hence the author puts it in two words, the mental loop.

Meditation is an ancient practice people have been doing in various old civilisations of the world. When the mind is controlled, things become within reach. The third aspect that the author preaches is to remain in the present moment without thinking about the past.

Hence, love is the cheerful spark that can ignite positivity in a human brain and mind if taken seriously and practised. Thus dispelling all the negativity and darkness from one’s mind-body, leaving the message I love myself.
