About Raymond E. Feist

Raymond E. Feist was born Raymond E. Gonzales III, but adopted his stepfather’s surname when his mother remarried Felix E. Feist. He earned a B.A. in Communication Arts from the University of California, San Diego in 1977. During that year, Feist had some ideas for a novel about a boy who wants to be a magician. The novel was published by Doubleday in 1982, two years after he wrote it. Currently, Feist lives in San Diego with his family, where he collects fine wine, DVDs, and books on a wide range of topics: wine, biographies, history, and, particularly, the history of American professional football.
