About R.L. LaFevers

R. L. LaFevers (Robin Lorraine when she is in big trouble) grew up in a household filled with shelves of old dusty books, a passel of brothers, a goat, chickens, chipmunks, a baby anteater, and, for a few weeks, two wild bear cubs. In addition to that, she has spent most of her life being told that she makes up things that don’t exist, which only proves she’s destined to write fiction. Among her eight books for young readers is Theodosia and the Serpents of Chaos, (Houghton Mifflin, 2007) which received starred reviews and was a Junior Library Guild selection, a Booksense Summer Pick, and a nominee for the Malice Domestic Agatha Award. In a recent review of her book, Nathaniel Fludd, Beastologist: Flight of the Phoenix (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt), Kirkus called it “an exciting tale.” Look for the sequel, Nathaniel Fludd, Beastologist: The Basilisk’s Lair in Spring of 2010.

R. L. resides in Southern California with her family and spends her time daydreaming, making up stories, and reading old forgotten texts. She no longer has exotic pets, but she does have raccoons that visit her back porch, coyotes that howl at her window, and hawks that soar over her head.
