About Patricia Wentworth
Patricia Wentworth was a British crime fiction writer born Dora Amy Elles.
She attended Blackheath High School in London and a private school. After her first husband, George F. Dillon, died in 1906, she settled in Camberley, Surrey. In 1920, she married George Oliver Turnbull and they had one daughter.
In 1928, she published her first whodunnit featuring Miss Silver, and the last one was published in 1961, the year of her death.
A retired governess turned private detective, Miss Silver, is sometimes compared to Jane Marple, the elderly detective created by Agatha Christie. As one of Scotland Yard’s most powerful detectives, she relies heavily on Inspector Frank Abbott and often quotes Tennyson’s poetry.
In addition to that series, Wentworth wrote 34 other books
