About Mary Balogh

In 1967, Mary Jenkins moved to Saskatchewan, Canada, on a two-year teaching contract, after graduating from university in Swansea, Wales, UK. She had three children with her Canadian husband, Robert Balogh: Jacqueline, Christopher, and Sian. She enjoys reading, music, and knitting when she isn’t writing. She also enjoys watching tennis and curling.

As a hobby, Mary Balogh began writing in the evenings. Her first book, a Regency love story entitled A Masked Deception, was published in 1985. Her dream to become a full-time writer began in 1988 when she retired from teaching after 20 years. Since then, she has written more than seventy novels, including the New York Times bestselling ‘Slightly’ quartet and ‘Simply’ sextet. Numerous awards have been won by her, including Bestselling Historical of the Year from Borders Group and Quill Award finalist for Simply Magic. She has won seven Waldenbooks Awards and two B. Dalton Awards, as well as a Lifetime Achievement Award from Romantic Times.
