About Martha Conway
She is the author of four novels, including The Underground River (Touchstone 2017), which was a New York Times Book Review Editor’s Choice. Her historical fiction has received several awards, including the North American Book Award for Best Historical Fiction. The Iowa Review, the Carolina Quarterly, The Quarterly, Folio, Massachusetts Review, and other journals have published her short fiction. Currently, she teaches creative writing at Stanford University’s Continuing Studies Program.
Martha is one of seven sisters and now lives in San Francisco with her family.
