About Kylie Brant

Kylie Brant, a mother of five, began writing to keep herself sane. The plotting of stories became her escape from constant ball games, chauffeuring children, and arbitrating “minor” disputes between her perfect children.

She was delighted to receive a call from Silhouette in 1992, offering to buy her second novel. At home with laryngitis, she still managed to croak out an agreement, and her career began. She went on to sell Rancher’s Choice, her first manuscript, a few months later.

Kylie is married to her high school sweetheart, and they live in Iowa together. Whenever she says she is creating heroes, she refers to her husband of 23 years because he has that most heroic of qualities – the ability to iron. Her abilities come in handy as she balances a full-time teaching job with writing and family responsibilities.

“Guilt’s a useless emotion.” He made peace with that much in rehab. It was useless to feel guilty that he’d made it home alive from Pakistan when some of his team mates hadn’t been so lucky. Equally worthless was his guilt over his sense of loss about his leg when Colton hadn’t come home at all. “You need the kind of help I can provide. And I don’t mind helping. I’ve always . . . ” Liked you, is what he meant to say. Maybe cared a little. But his throat stopped working and the words remained trapped in his brain.
