About Isabel Allende

Known for her novels and short stories, Isabel Allende Llona is a Chilean-American author. Latin American novelist Isabel Allende is considered one of the first successful women writers in the “magic realism” tradition. Her novels often focus on the experiences of women, weaving myth and realism together, partly based on her own experiences. The author has lectured and done extensive book tours as well as taught literature at several US colleges. Currently, she and her husband live in California. In 2003, Allende adopted U.S. citizenship.
