About H. P. Lovecraft
H. P. Lovecraft was born in 1890 in Providence, Rhode Island, where he spent most of his life. He wrote many essays and poems during the early part of his career, but gradually focused on writing horror stories after Weird Tales appeared in 1923, where he contributed most of his works. As a writer of supernatural fiction, his relatively small corpus–three short novels and about sixty short stories–has nevertheless exerted a large influence on later work, and he is credited with being the leading American author of the twentieth century. H. P. Lovecraft died in Providence in 1937.
