About Gregory David Roberts
Gregory David Roberts is an Australian author best known for his novel Shantaram. A heroin addict and convicted bank robber, he escaped from Pentridge Prison and fled to India, where he lived for ten years.
After living in Melbourne, Germany, France, and finally Mumbai, Roberts established a charitable foundation to provide health care to the city’s poor. He was reunited with his daughter.
Besides Shantaram (2011), he also wrote the screenplay for Allegra (2008), a film about the modern slave trade.
The Mountain Shadow continues Shantaram’s story and was published in October 2015.
