About Gertrude Chandler Warner

In 1890, Gertrude Chandler Warner was born in Putnam, Connecticut, to Edgar and Jane Warner. Her family included a younger sister, Frances, and a brother, John. As early as age five, she dreamed of becoming an author. She wrote stories for her Grandfather Carpenter and gave him one each Christmas. She is best known for writing The Boxcar Children Mysteries.
