About Fyodor Dostoevsky

A Russian novelist, short story writer, essayist, and journalist, Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoevsky wrote novels and short stories. In his literary works, he explores human psychology in the turbulent political, social, and spiritual atmosphere of 19th-century Russia and deals with a variety of philosophical and religious themes. He is best known for his novels Crime and Punishment (1866), The Idiot (1869), Demons (1872), and The Brothers Karamazov (1880).

He is regarded by many literary critics as one of the greatest novelists in all of world literature, as many of his works are highly influential. Notes from Underground, published in 1864, is considered among the first existentialist works. Therefore, he is also regarded as a philosopher and theologian.
