About Derek Landy
Known for his screenwriting and writing, Derek Landy is an Irish author and screenwriter. Aside from his bestselling children’s/YA series Skulduggery Pleasant books, a supernatural mystery series starring Skulduggery Pleasant, a skeleton detective, and Valkyrie Cain, a young female magician, he has also written two screenplays that have been turned into films: “Dead Bodies” and “Boy Eats Girl”, both of which have received IFTA awards. For Best Script, Landy himself was nominated for an IFTA.
He does not brag about the awards he has won, such as Irish Book of the Decade, Red House in the UK, and all the other awards he displays on his mantelpiece with humility. As well, he is far too modest to mention that his first book was a Publisher’s Weekly Best Book of the Year, but he would like to extend an invitation to Oprah to meet over tea one day, as thanks for selecting his book for the Oprah’s Book Club Kids Reading List.
He watches too many movies, plays too many video games, and reads too many comics. Ireland is home to too many cats for him. He occasionally talks to real people, but only when absolutely necessary
