About Dashka Slater

One of the best books of the year was Daska Slater’s novel, The Wishing Box. The Los Angeles Times described it as a “hopeful, humorous novel.” She has authored four acclaimed children’s books: Baby Shoes; Firefighters in the Dark; The Sea Serpent and Me; and Dangerously Ever After. Among the books she has coming out in 2017 are two picture books as well as the much-anticipated Young Adult non-fiction narrative The 57 Bus.

Additionally, Slater has written for Newsweek, More, Salon, Mother Jones, Sierra, and The New York Times Magazine. She received a Creative Writing Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts and is currently working on new books for children and adults.
