Cinephile’s Paradise: 10 Must-See Movies Coming in 2023

Year end is always an excellent time for new films to come out. In the Southern hemisphere, the hot summer weather is in full effect, and hundreds of people on vacation are all ready and waiting to spend a little time relaxing in the cinema. In the Northern hemisphere, snow may be falling, and a feeling of Christmas cheer is everywhere. What better way to spend a few weekend hours than checking out the newest cinematic offerings from Hollywood land.  A cinephile’s favorite time of year is the ending of one year and the beginning of another, because producers and studio execs take advantage of the goodwill floating around and release some of the most anticipated films of the year. These are films we’ve been waiting for all year: movie scenes featuring daring feats, romantic moments, and some of the biggest stars ever to grace the silver screen.

If you’ve got some spare time on your hands this holiday season, we’ve got the perfect way to spend it! Check out our list of the ten most anticipated films coming out at the end of 2022 and the beginning of 2023. Let’s take a look.

1. Ant Man and The Wasp: Quantumania

In this upcoming Marvel film, we get to learn all about the lost civilization that Antman and The Wasp have discovered living in the Quantum Realm. We’ve been waiting a while since the first Antman and The Wasp film, so we can’t wait to see Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly spring back to action in record time.

2. Evil Dead Rise

Will we ever have enough of the Evil Dead franchise? We doubt it! Evil Dead Rise, coming out next year, will tell a new tale of two sisters. An ancient book opens to reveal more than just pages. The book releases a race of demonic creatures into the girl’s world. The two must fight for their lives as their apartment building is overrun.

3. Magic Mike’s Last Dance

Mike Lane is back for one last stab at the big time. A business deal gone bad leaves him completely broke and bartending in Florida. Sensing one more opportunity to make it big, Mike follows a wealthy socialite all the way to London, England. She makes him an offer he can’t refuse, but he has no idea what her agenda really is.

4. Creed III

Adonis Creed is still riding high as king of the boxing world. He has no idea that a former friend and convict, Damian, is about to challenge his place on top and rock his world in ways that Creed never thought possible. These two old friends must face off for more than just a title.

5. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever

The producers of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever decided that the only right way to proceed with the series was to honor Chadwick Boseman by not recasting him just yet. The women of Wakanda come to the fore in this sequel in a fight to keep Wakanda safe from outside powers that seek to step in in the wake of T’Challa’s death.

6. Avatar: The Way of the Water

Jake Sully and Neytiri are FINALLY back in the sequel we’ve been waiting literally a decade for. The pair have a little family that they will now have to fight for. They leave home to explore Pandora, and when an ancient threat shows itself again, Jake must fight against the humans he once fought with.

7. Amsterdam

Three friends in the titular city find themselves embroiled in a murder investigation. They witness the event and subsequently become suspects themselves. Along the path of staying out of jail, the three uncover one of the most outrageous plots in history.

8. Killers of the Flower Moon

Based on a nonfiction book, this film follows the events that unfolded when members of the Osage Native tribe in Northeastern Oklahoma die under suspicious circumstances back in the 1920s. The event sparked an FBI investigation led by a young J Edger Hoover and a former Texas ranger.

9. Aquaman: The Lost Kingdom

Jason Momoa is back, and we’re ready! In this much anticipated and talked-about sequel, Aquaman must forge an uneasy alliance with a surprising ally to save not only Atlantis, but the entire planet.

10. Dune Part II

The incredible success of the newly reinterpreted Dune movie that was released in 2021 has made us all salivate for the sequel. Paul Atreides and Chani come together, as Paul knew they would, to lead the Fremen and seek revenge against those who destroyed Paul’s family. Paul must choose between love and duty and prevent a terrible future.

These current and upcoming films are the best of this year and the next! We can’t wait to watch them all.
